This is a guide on how to get LEGO Studios Backlot running in IE or other compatible browsers. A list of known compatible browsers is at the bottom.

1. Download the Adobe Shockwave MSI installer with the link below. (note: MSI installer is required - the other installers don't work)

2. Run the installer. Follow the instructions.

3. Download the most recent XAMPP with the link below.

4. Install XAMPP.

5. Download LEGO Studios Backlot with the link below.

6. Extract the Backlot.zip folder anywhere.

7. Bleach for ppsspp. Run the installer (Installer.vbs) included in the game download.

8. Run the xtras installer (Shockwave10-12XtrasInstall.vbs) as well. If you get an error message, try running this installer after step 11.

9. Run XAMPP.

10. In the XAMPP control panel, start the Apache server.

11. Using a compatible browser (IE recommended), go to the following address: http://localhost/backlot/Launcher.html

12. You need to set the process affinity to one core to prevent the game from freezing. To do this, go to Task Manager, find the process belonging to the browser window currently running Backlot, right click the process, click 'Set affinity,' and uncheck all the boxes except one. You'll need to do this whenever you start the game.

13. If the game loads, you're finished! If you encounter any errors, the link in step 15 has additional information that may help. Otherwise, there are some troubleshooting steps below. If you still can't get the game running, feel free to join the LEGO Speedrunning Discord and ask in the #studios-backlot channel.

14. The first thing you should do when troubleshooting is restart your computer.

1. Open Registry Editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video

2. Press Ctrl+F, make sure the option to search for Values is checked and search for InstalledDisplayDrivers and you should arrive at a Registry Key called 0000 with the InstalledDisplayDrivers value selected.

3. Right click the Registry Key 0000 and hit Export. Save the file with any name - this is just to make a backup of the old state you can revert to at any time.

4. Now right click InstalledDisplayDrivers value and click Modify.. this will pop up a dialog box with a either a single pathname, or multiple (comma seperated.)

5. For every pathname here, strip the path and file extension to leave just the filename (for example, 'C:/example/nvldumdx.dll' should become 'nvldumdx'). If there are multiple pathnames, do it for all of them, leaving the commas between.

6. Now hit OK. The Shockwave 3D issue is resolved.

16. If the above procedure doesn't resolve your issue, you may also try reinstalling your graphics driver.
